Last Year's blog

We had a blog for the first time last year, set up by Paul O'Mahony and Patrick Stack, and fed constantly by Paul O'Mahony, and sporadically by Patrick Stack. It's called "Let's make Summer Music" and follows events in and around Summer Music on the Shanon.

Live Streaming of Grand Finale Concert

Check out our Live Streaming of The Grand Finale concert with everyone on stage at 1.30pm (BST)/ 12.30pm (GMT) on Sunday August 16th 2009. This is being broadcast live on the web courtesy of HEAnet, UL ITD, UCH, and LIT for whose help and support Summer Music on the Shannon is very grateful.

The 16th annual Summer Music on the Shannon music school and festival again offers, to musicians of all ages and at all levels of achievement, programmes which stimulate inherent artistic talent through a wide variety of classes, rehearsals, solo recitals and ensemble performances. By participating in an intesive and exciting summer music programme, students will be encouraged to explore opportunities for the further enjoyment of music.

From this approach to "creativity and enjoyment through music", SMS has evolved its own unique identity and mission:

to develop, in Ireland's Shannon Region, a classical summer music school and festival with the hightest International standards of performance and teaching, with no barriers to admission based on age, level of ability or financial disadvantage.
