MailChimp is a great way to introduce users to marketing automation without a high level of risk. Competitors have steep pricing structures that tend to not allow smaller websites with limited budgets test out their features like MailChimp does. It is amazingly easy to setup and use and it has also become my brand of choice for marketing automation across my websites. MailChimp has amazing integrations with many platforms and are easy to use and setup with little or no development experience.

MailChimp is one of the largest marketing automation platforms in use today. And one of the reasons it has taken off so quickly includes the fact that they offer an entry level subscription that costs nothing. Literally, nothing. While limited, it still provides much of the features you will find with their paid subscription levels, it just has limits in the number of contacts and the number of emails you can send per month. Still, a great deal to test its features and functionalities. MailChimp is very easy to use and provides a host of features to help you market your site. All subscription levels, including the free entry level, lets you email campaigns, create amazing custom landing pages, pop-up forms, and create Ads with platforms such as Google, Facebook and Instagram. IN addition to these creation and publishing features, MailChimp provides automation features that allow you to create automated responses based on user behaviors. Manage cart abandonment and recommend products as well as receive notifications to all the activities taking place on your site. You can even customize your target audience through segmentation and groups, send times, time zones, demographics and other advanced features. But remember that not all are available in the free version. And what good is a marketing tool if you cannot see the results or track them. This, too, is another MailChimp strength. You get your basic set of reports and can perform A/B testing to see what works and what does not. One of my favorite features is MailChimp's integrations. I use it extensively with WordPress websites and not only use the plug ins created by MailChimp, but those from a multitude of third party developers who have done amazing things with integrations and features.

Although part of their marketing and not necessarily a Con, it is still fair to say that it would be nice to have some features with limitations available to the entry level for users to give it a run. Maybe a sampling of those would help in making a decision. But because of their affordable pricing structure, it is fair to say that their pricing levels are just about right.

Pros: If you ever thought about email marketing, there is hardly any chance you didn't hear about Mailchimp. It seems to be the go to solution for anybody just starting out with email marketing.

What's great is that even in the completely free version you can send newsletters, send automated emails like order confirmations, abandoned cart reminders etc. with lots of integrations to existing e-commerce software.

The interface is very simple to use and its built-in drag and drop editor is very flexible as well with lots of predefined elements to choose from.

There is built in Google Analytics integration together with numerous other tools from Facebook to Pipedrive, so you can use your mailing list to create custom audiences on FB or sync them with your preferred CRM version to send mass mailings to your customers.

What's also nice is the agency feature that allows you to manage multiple accounts under one roof. This is especially useful if you have customers with existing Mailchimp accounts that want to invite you to their existing account.

Cons: MailChimp is fine and dandy if you're a beginner, but it's not the best choice for serious online marketers. There are lots of automation to choose from such as auto-responders, triggered e-mails if a specific action occurs, but the automation is completely independent of each other.

Creating complex automation like "send this email to subscribers from this list, but only if they met criteria X and didn't receive email Y from 2 weeks ago already" is just impossible to implement. Apart from that, the automation that is possible to do can become quite confusing if you have lots of them.

A visual representation in the form of a flowchart would be extremely helpful. Other email marketing software like Active Campaign does a much better job at this.

Apart from that, the pricing is hard to grasp for a month? What if you're somewhere in between and need more features, but aren't able to make it.

Pros: MailChimp is a very popular email marketing platform that makes it easy to send out mail campaigns. We use a great plugin for our gravity forms pushing anyone that submits a form on our website to a specific MailChimp list, group, or segment. This makes it easier than trying to regularly upload a list each time it changes.

It's popular for good reasons as setting up templated emails is really simple, guided by a step-by-step process with additional coding and advanced setup features. It also allows for RSS feeds to be sent to a blog signup list. Creating automatic drip campaigns is another feature we utilize heavily and works great at increasing follow-up. The split A/B testing is a great way to test the messages of your marketing campaign.

Being able to see the reports on clicks and users makes it one of the best features of MailChimp. We use it as a way to know our warm leads we should be reaching out to.

Cons: Although being easy to use, the few spots you get snagged up on are better resolved through a Google search than a chat to the support people. They stink. The other big con to MailChimp is the way it handles lists, groups, segments, and signup forms. Because MailChimp bills you for every last contact you have with your lists, creating duplicate lists can be an expensive mistake. The only way to separate contacts without getting double billed is to use segments and groups. This creates a challenge when using the signup forms, as the person will have to choose their preferred group to join. It would be better if MailChimp either made the signup forms group based or allowed for separate lists without duplicate charges. The other big downside to MailChimp is the difficulty with managing a user's email preferences. For example, if a user only wants to receive monthly emails instead of weekly emails, creating that option can be a bit tricky without some careful planning. It would be simpler if MailChimp created a frequency option as a customer profile option. This would fail-safe against sending out too many emails to someone that wanted fewer emails.

Mailchimp is very easy to use and has plugins for 99% of the other services my company uses online like our web host, G Suit, forms system, etc which is awesome and works amazingly. Their API is super smooth and simple so it is easy to import and sync all kinds of customer data from one service to another. The analytics mailchimp provides from campaigns is also super helpful, and so are their new automated tasks sending out automatic emails to customers after purchase or after abandoned carts.

My two major complaints are the price points and the flagging system. If you have a very small company the prices are pretty great, but as our customer database grew the prices jumped severally. I wish there is a way to pay less by opting out of some of the features we don't need or use, but it's a set strict pricing tier, all or nothing. Even with the higher prices my company kept on happily using MailChimp, until our account got flagged for 3 false reports. From the research, we investigated it appears that a rival company had their employees sign up for our mailing list, probably for market research keeping an eye on our sales which make sense, until those accounts reported one of our newsletters as spam causing MailChimp to immediately suspend our account. After MONTHS of being a paying customer with no issues, I feel them instantly suspending our account without first contacting us is unacceptable. The automated hoops they made as jump through we ridiculous, and the response time, once we jumped through those hoops, took DAYS - Days we had to pay for even though our account was suspended. two weeks down the road we got our account reactivated, but our request to talk to a member of their team was ignored. Mailchimp treated us guilty until proven innocent, which I would get if we didn't already have an impeccable record with them. We had over a year of 100% upstanding email campaigns using their service and feel like we were treated VERY unfairly. What happens next time that same competitor false flags us, forcing us to pay for service time we can not use? Because of that, I am actively researching other service providers, specifically ones that have actual human employees that reach out before drastic measures such as suspension.

Pros: I have been using Mailchimp for the past 3 years and it is packed with great features, which is easy to understand and navigate. I really appreciate being able to connect it with our CRM platforms so we can have everything running cohesively. It's really a great platform for all levels of email marketing, whether you are just beginning or super experienced. There are easy-to-use templates and the ability to customize/code your own. It has everything our team needs for email marketing!

Cons: The one thing I have to say is during the one instance that I did need some help, I found it annoyingly difficult to find contact info so I could get help from a real person. They have a lot of helpful articles, but it was truly a pain looking for something more. I found a message/email and never heard back. Luckily, this platform isn't difficult to use and I didn't have a big issue at the time, but rather a question. It would have been nice to have immediate human help when I needed it. Great customer service matters, even for a software platform.

Overall: Our team has had a great experience sending email marketing campaigns as single campaigns and running automated campaigns. There are a lot of customizable features that we appreciate and make it easy to create what we have in mind.

Many things have changed for the better at MailChimp, in my opinion. In the last year, MailChimp has added a number of key functions to their free services which are really helpful for small businesses or nonprofits just starting a list or with a small email list. Automation is available for all types of email marketing from product retargeting and purchase followups to training series¿ and RSS-to-email for blog lists through MailChimp.

MailChimp has upped its game for free services for small lists. The number of services available via automation and the large numbers of 3rd-party integrations such as Zapier, WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, EventBright, Insightly, etc. make it easy for us to do pretty much everything we need to do with our email lists. There are hundreds of services that can be integrated with MailChimp. MailChimp also allows us to segment our lists into smaller target markets and the service provides campaign tracking that lets us see quite a lot of detailed information on recipients¿ response. For smaller businesses, MailChimp offers big value in pricing. It¿s free up to the first 2000 subscribers for 12,000 emails monthly.

There are a number of templates provided and many useful functions as mentioned, but the steps to set up the available email automation haven¿t been intuitive to our team. It required searching for tutorials or reviewing the support section pretty closely to figure out all the steps to connect the moving parts of any of our automated campaigns. We also think the forms could be better designed for the templates and it could be easier to understand how to make design changes.

Pros: What I love most about Mail Chimp is the ease of use. It took a few weeks of emails to get the hang of the functions, but now that I know where to go, I can create emails quickly and efficiently. I also like UI/UX of MailChimp, which is clean, simple and friendly. The language is fun but not overly cutesy, which is the tone de jour of software lately.

The reporting and analytics are simple to read and understand, and I can send the reports to stakeholders quickly via email, so they have access.

I love that they have integration with many of the popular CRMS.

I haven't yet had a chance to dig into the more advanced features, but I'm eager to use the landing page options as well as social media integration.

They also have a lot of helpful how-tos, and their customer support was quick and helpful. Of course, the low pricetag is a huge selling point for folks with limited marketing budgets.

Cons: I would like additional design tools for the emails. However, for new users or folks with limited design skills, MailChimp makes it very simple to create create polished emails.

Overall: cost-effective, easy to use and create professional emails even with limited design skills.

Pros: Mailchimp is spectacularly easy to use. It is very intuitive and also it is free if you have less than 2,000 subscribers, which makes it the go to e-news for small nonprofits or groups.

It also has a lot of free features that keeps all of your e-mail campaigns organized and customizable - they also have free templates that you just need to adjust to your needs with minimal hassle, even if you do not know any html.

Their reports feature is also really handy! I personally use it to see which links people clicked on the most, thereby allowing me to tailor my links to my subscribers interests. It also shows you the best days to send your email and your open rate in comparison to your particular industries average.

Finally, I love that you can upload subscribers through an excel file or cvs. You can also update or change a subscribers email in the same way! So instead of changing an email one by one, you can just upload those changes.

Basically, if you have simple needs and a small number of subscribers I highly recommend it!

Cons: The only thing that I have hit a wall with this product is in trying to really customize it. I do not know html so trying to adjust certain templates to do something like a picture scroll, or change a color is difficult and I have yet to figure it out. However, I believe that if you have the correct knowledge it should be simple to change.

Overall: The ability to send out an email campaign and bring people who were scattered in my organization together, by keeping them informed of what was going on. Reports on what worked best for my subscribers to keep them engaged. Also it is free to use under a certain number of subscribers so it is perfect for my needs!

I¿ve been using MailChimp for a year, along with other email marketing software¿s, and MailChimp is one of the best email marketing softwares in the market. I am not a fan of the customer support system, I¿ve had to contact the customer support twice, each on different accounts. On first was on a paid account and the customer support rep was very helpful, the second was on a free account and I¿m still waiting for their response. I hope they get back to me because it¿s still within the 30 days of support. One of the reasons I don¿t like this system is because the brands I work with are mostly startup or small businesses and most of them have heard of MailChimp and they know it¿s free for 2000 subscribers, however, they don¿t know what restrictions the free plan comes with. And their suggestion to everything is ¿Contact customer support¿ If only they knew ¿ I also wish the free plan came with a bit of automation but I guess what is what Drip or SendinBlue is for. I also wish MailChimp came with an inbuilt mini tutorial on how to use their software, I think people new to email marketing would find it very useful. I remember the first time I tried MailChimp I had no idea that I had to create a template and then a campaign. I use MailChimp with a lot of integrations to widen its use, I use MailChimp with Privy, Drip, Hubspot CRM and many other tools thanks to Zapier. One of the features I love about MailChimp and I¿m yet to find in SendinBlue or Benchmark email is the ability to have an image header in the signup form. My review is mostly based on the free plan, but despite the flaws I¿d still recommend MailChimp to individuals and companies looking to get into email marketing.

Mailchimp is easy, it is also the go-to email marketing software for small businesses and bloggers. It is easy to use, the signup form allows more customization options than most email marketing softwareS. The free plan allows 2000 subscribers.

The templates compared to other Softwares like SendinBlue, Active Hosted, Mailpoet, and Benchmark is a bit basic. The free plan while great has so many restrictions, the areas I'm concerned about are support and automation which the free plan doesn't deliver when compared to SendinBlue

Mailchimp is a great email marketing solution for beginners, the interface is clean and there are less chances of being overwhelmed. The free plan is great for bloggers or those who want to start focusing on building their list. As your skill increases you would need to upgrade or try a different Email marketing software because the free plan doesn't come with several important features.

Pros: Mailchimp is a super easy to use email marketing platform. It's small-business friendly by offering their "freemium" model that allows you have a subscriber list up to a certain number of contacts for free. Once you get to a certain level of subscribers, only then do you need to pay.

They have a nice variety of flexible and well-designed templates to choose from that render nicely on all major email platforms. They're even responsive for mobile friendly reading considering over 50% of all email is opened on a mobile device.

I like being able to use their WYSIWYG editor in combination with the code view. That way if something gets broken somehow, I can always dig into the code and fix it myself.

The email templates they create are also available for download at HTML files. It's really nice they share their code for people to use and learn from.

Their basic app allows you to check on your open rate and subscriber list, which is handy. The desktop view has a lot of helpful data that you can look at to understand what your best performing campaigns are.

Anytime a small business owner or marketer is looking for an email marketing platform, Mailchimp is always my go-to recommendation!

Cons: They change their interface a lot, which is annoying to have to relearn where different features are after an "update".

Sometimes, like with all WYSIWYG editors, the layouts can become broken for whatever reason. You may need to dig into the code view to find unclosed tags or whatever to debug weird formatting that may happen as you're creating your campaigns.

I've never tried to do anything fancy with Mailchimp like triggered emails or drip marketing campaigns. Not sure if it's possible with this software. But it's a solid basic email marketing platform.

Pros: its easy to use and it brand name is well known

Cons: It is expensive. It doesn't have features such as fast and easy to use integration to websites It doesn't have the ability to resend campaigns to unopened emails automatically 7 days after the original sent. or the ability to track the opening times and have each email delivered into the recipients email box at the time they are most likely to open it.

Overall: The service is shocking and the staff rude - and they don't like to talk on the phone, so you have to wait for an email reply. its much more expensive than its competitors and it hasn't got as many useful fractures as other sites. i have used it in 3 different companies now and all three times have found that is is much easier than so many of its competitors that companies assume that its the best, but when they experience Robly they realize just how many functions and features MailChimp is lacking. It is easy to use but is also over priced.

Don't use it. the service is shocking and honestly its competitor, Robly, is 100% better in every way. The usability, the set up of mailing lists, the integration with your website, the different sending features and the price is far superior in every way. My advice would be to look into the features that other sites have to offer before just going with Mailchimp.

Pros: It's pretty easy to use and straight forward. But it is a very basic program for basic one-time email campaigns.

Cons: There are several basic things lacking in several of their features: detailed reporting, email automation, and A/B testing. Those features don't include the basic functions to help teams get real data.

1. The reporting is extremely high-level. If you want to dig into it to see performance over time to see trends, the reporting doesn't provide you a usable export of the data to manipulate and find trends.

2. Automation is based on what the customer did at the email level and not the campaign level. MailChimp calls emails 'campaigns'. In real-world speak, if you have several campaigns (collection of emails) and want the behavior of what a customer did in one campaign to dictate where they go next, you have to do some workarounds which don't provide you trust in the system. The campaigns cannot have multiple feeders, so you end up having multiple duplicate assets (emails and automation) spread across multiple campaigns which makes managing content much harder to manage.

3. A/B testing is so incredibly basic. Mail Chimp does NOT allow you to A/B test the subject line of your welcome email or any automated email in that manner. This is the most important email for a business and you can't create an A/B test it because it is automated.

Overall: Don't need to be an expert to use the system.

Pros: Mail Chimp has multiple plans available from a fairly generous basic freemium plan to more robust plans that allow for much larger subscriber list sizes. Their pricing is very reasonable for the industry, and since their plans are scalable, they're a great choice for smaller/newer businesses because you can start out using the freemium plan and gradually upgrade your plan as your business grows. They're an excellent value for small and medium-sized businesses because they offer very good reporting, have an easy-to-use and intuitive email template editor they support basic email personalization and automation as well.

Cons: Although their email automation is fairly robust for the price, it's difficult to use and there's no easy way to view email flows for more complicated campaigns with multiple rule sets and paths. Although email list segmentation is supported, all email lists are kept separated, so you cannot universally manage segmentation across multiple lists.

Overall: Mail Chimp was a great choice for us because we started out using the freemium plan when we just starting out, then as we grew our business and customer email lists, we were able to easily upgrade our account plan as needed. They support everything you would need to easily run basic to intermediate complexity email campaigns. They do support more advanced features as well, but performing more complex list segmentation and automation flows are somewhat confusing and fairly difficult compared to other higher-end (and also more expensive as well) email service providers.

Pros: This software can very quickly allow you to setup an outbound marketing program that can send multiple emails based on different events that occur on our website. If you start off on the free platform you are still given access to an amazing level of control over sending emails to list of clients that sign up for various newsletters. I have to also mention that almost every CRM, scheduling app, and web hosting site seems to natively integrate with Mailchimp via API making it very easy to get up and running.

Cons: Getting the advanced features to work takes a some work and the full capabilities aren't easily seen right away. Sometimes I find that I am advancing too slowly through the screens to setup a campaign.

Overall: We are able to have multiple landing pages on our website that have sign up forms that automatically integrate into Mailchimp. Once someone signs up, I am quite assured that our drip campaign will methodically start to send content to the person who signed up and it can change course based on the clients behavior. We also were able to setup and do some deep integrations without exceeding the free plan for quite some time while we evaluated.

The font options and archival system need improvement. I want to be able to download pdf versions of all my campaigns and haven¿t been able to figure it out efficiently. I think the mobile viewing should be improved also¿the template never looks how it says it will when I¿m editing it in draft (even when I preview it in ¿mobile¿). I wish there was an easier way to have videos in the email, and to integrate surveys from other software. Archives--allow users to download PDF's of each campaign/make it easier to view, export, and print campaigns from the site. We want to archive all of our newsletters on our website so that staff can view previous newsletters and for our team to make improvements/retain a consistent theme and language.

They have a free plan available that I like best. Honestly, this is what pulled me in first because of the ability to send 10k emails easily in a month FOR FREE. It's very easy to work with, you're able to use free templates for your emails and you can get reports and analytics. It's great. MailChimp is very easy to navigate, understand, and use. There is little to no learning curve for a novice, so it is the perfect tool to pick up and learn on the fly. The UI and email template creator to create emails is clean, simple to understand and access, gives a variety of options.

MailChimp is not a one-stop shop. It is best to be paired with other apps, such as Zapier, in order to ensure the seamless integration of MailChimp and your other applications (your website, calendar, social media, etc). There isn't enough variety or personalization in MailChimp to make it the perfect platform. Also, the way to enter in new subscribers is very time-consuming.

Pros: I love MailChimp because of its user interface. I've tried teaching a few people how to do this on their own for their personal use, and recommending them to switch to MailChimp from other competitors. They all told me that they are very satisfied with the product! I also love the simplicity of the metrics, and it's highly understandable. I don't need to be a genius data analyst to understand what the metrics mean! I also love that it has some integrations with other tools, especially PowerBI. Works wonders!

Cons: I think MailChimp is quite strict with the rules when it comes to sending mails internationally. Perhaps it's because it considers laws applicable in every country for email ethics. I also think there's an opportunity to improve the metrics for geolocation. It only gives me the top 5 locations. I would like to study the behavior of the audience, especially that we are dealing with thousands of mails.

Overall: Ease of use to send emails to our stakeholders and audience. Great metrics, integrations and easy to teach to the end users.

I used to use another email company and was leery of jumping ship. Once I started using MailChimp, I haven't looked back. It is so easy to create mail campaigns, edit/create templates, track recipient behavior, set up scheduling, see email results, and it integrates into a vast number of other products. I HIGHLY recommend this product to my clients. I like being able to schedule a series of automated emails. The ability to test a subject line, from name, content and send time is a great tool. I have been using MailChimp for about five years and will continue to use it for my clients and recommend it to as many people as I can. It just makes sending emails that look good so much easier and it integrates into websites with ease. Support is always great and helpful.

It would be nice to have access to My Library from the home screen so I can add or remove images or files without having to go into a campaign or ad. If this functionality was added, I would be ecstatic.

If you're an entrepreneur or work for a small business, you NEED Mailchimp! Don't look at any other email marketing services. It's the most affordable and best email marketing platform out there for small businesses.

Everything from the emails they send to me to the reporting on how my campaigns performed is outstanding. I have a full time job, but I also manage my own business on the side and Mailchimp is essential to my success. It integrates with every CMS, so I can quickly and easily build lead generation forms for any part of my website and also get real-time notifications on how they're performing. I love the email templates, they're beautifully designed right out of the box. Often times, all I need to do is add my logo and email copy, and it looks fantastic. If you want to be a power user, Mailchimp also has the capability to do A/B testing on just about anything - so I can discover what subject lines, copy, images, etc work the best for my audience. Really amazing service.

MailChimp is without a doubt the best email marketing service out there. There is not a single feature you can say is missing. You can do virtually anything you desire, using segmentation to reach users for re-engagement campaigns. The coolest part is that you can have multiples sites (or even accounts) and they will not interfere with each other. I own a blog about cooking and other about hosting. I had them in the same account and there were no problems with tracking domains, clicks or links. Just perfect. You can have multiple account to keep them even more separate.

The pricing range is just not easy to handle. There is not a single coupon or easy way out of expensive prices. Also, after you move from the free plan to the paid plan there is no way back. Even if you reach less then 1k subscribers. I'm also not sure the referral program works properly. I remember getting a few bonus but they do show in the dashboard.

I work for a not for profit company that sends emails out regularly to anywhere from 10-20,000+ contacts. It works very reliably and gives you easy access to analytical data. The recipient logic system is a bit tricky to get used to but once you get it, it is a great way to target your emails to specific groups. I only wish there was a way to use multiple logic conditions for contacts you want to include AND also include a list of contacts not to include that overrides anyone who was previously selected to be included. The only way to do this that I know of is before you setup your recipients list in a campaign, you have to first create a segment group of all the contacts you want to include and then select that segment in the campaign along with the group you don't want to include. It's not that difficult but it adds an extra step and leaves you with a lot of segments that you might want to clean out.

The software recognizes trends and other things it grabs from the web in the contacts you send to and will give you useful data about them that you might not have otherwise. It will automatically "clean" contacts that have a history of bad email addresses and give you details on who you should think about cleaning out yourself. It is easy to manage the contacts you have or add new ones.

Mainly just what I mentioned in the main review about not being able to weed out certain contacts unless you are only working with one group. It would make things much easier if you could just select all the groups you want to send to and whatever groups you don't want to send to and let the software figure out who to remove without having to first combine all the groups you want into one segment first.

I have used many email platforms throughout my career and none have been better than MailChimp. The templates and ease of designing an email are unparalleled. The managing system for contacts is superb. You can easily import subscribers you've collected on your own, or have them sign up directly online. The social sharing of the emails is great. The reporting system is perfect. You can even have the system determine when is the best time to send an email to your group or list based on their previous habits - fabulous! You can also check reports on your phone! I have no complaints about this mailing system, plus they are funny to boot! You can never go wrong with some humor spliced into your day.

If I HAD to choose something I like LEAST about Mailchimp, which is so hard to do, I would say that I wish the social sharing could select a photo from the email rather than just the header image.

Pros: I love how easy building campaigns is through MailChimp. Just like Squarespace, you can easily rearrange and customize your content. There are all kinds of prompts that help you ensure that what you are building is correct. You don't want huge images obliterating inboxes, so you get prompts throughout the building process alerting you of things like that. Organizing subscriber lists is super simple, and building general forms is quick and easy. Their branding is also super fun and cute, so when you're up all night building e-mails, it's a little less boring. The e-mail templates they have available are so useful. Such as automated birthday e-mails, subscriber thank you's, the list goes on. The built analytics help you better understand and re-target your customers. If your focus is e-commerce, USE THIS SOFTWARE!! They have abandoned cart notifications, product re-targeting, and all kinds of follow up e-mail templates for businesses that focus on e-commerce.

Cons: Based on the fact that I have no formal training, there was quite a learning curve when it came to figuring out scheduling e-mails, automating them correctly, and the finer details of managing workflows. The language can be foreign if you have never used software like this, but they have lots of pages of help forums that take you through the process step by step. Once you grasp the basic concepts, it becomes like second nature to use. As long as you are patient with yourself, utilizing this software will help you grow through e-mailing.

Pros: Mail Chimp in my mind is sort of like the default email marketing app. It's good for beginners and intermediate users especially, but also has been adding some more advanced features and integrations as of late. Some of these features come with the higher priced plans only. I think the main advantage to Mail Chimp is how much you get on the lower priced plans. I would definitely recommend their free plan to new businesses, particularly ecommerce companies, because it offers one of the most competitive free packages on the market and lots of useful features and integrations for online stores. Because it has such a large user base, it gets lots of updated content and re-investment.

Cons: The caveats here are primarily that it is an older ESP that is founded on the old batch-and-blast mentality. That's the heritage. I know they have updated it with new features to keep up with the times (and so has most everyone else), but I personally think when you have paradigm-shifts in an industry, newly built from the ground-up solutions are generally preferable. That's why for more advanced users, I would probably steer them away from Mail Chimp depending on what their needs were. One major frustration I always encounter with Mail Chimp is the linear and restrictive nature of the mail builder. Everything is done very sequentially which I find to be annoying, and I find that I often am restricted to what I can customize using the WYSIWYG editor, so I'm forced to use html.

Overall: We used Mail Chimp to send eblast campaigns and newsletters as well as to manage our contact list.

Pros: Approved bulk mailer. Most email services and Internet service providers (ISP) limit the number of emails you can send at one time. This is to prevent spamming. With a tool like MailChimp, you can send an email to an unlimited number of recipients at one time. Compatible with various email readers and devices. MailChimp gives your recipients the option to read your emails in fully-styled HTML or text only. They can also click a link to read the email in a web browser instead of their email.

Cons: Dig up change the specific defaults or dig up a very specific piece of data can be frustrating. It¿s all buried on second screens and/or specific workflows. MailChimp reserves the right to suspend or cancel your account which gives you a disadvantage while you are paying for the service but yet they have the right to refuse to serve. You pretty much have to create your own templates. If you want your email to look good, you have to do it yourself. Their template is not attractive enough to attract sales.

Overall: MailChimp is used to send promotional deals/offers to nearly 6,000 subscribers of our e-commerce platform and mainly used by the marketing department. This allows us to send promotion details to our customers on time and promptly as well as allows us to analyze the engagement data of those promotion details. This is very important since when you perform a marketing activity, you would want to know its effectiveness and performance rate.

Pros: MailChimp does basically everything! As someone who has to do a lot of different things in the office, MailChimp is a one-stop shop to send out large emails. My favorite thing was the ability to copy a project and make only minor changes. As an event coordinator, a lot of our email activity is repeat graphics to remind people about events, so it's great to just click a few times and send out the same graphic. I could go on and on about the other aspects of MailChimp that are awesome - like the ability to see who has opened the email and actually clicked on my links, the ability to save specific email lists for targeted sending, having the option to build out the graphics right there on the site and not in another graphic design software system, etc. This product is amazing!

Cons: There is not a lot I would change about MailChimp. It is so user-friendly and has everything. I think something that could enhance it is the ability to store email addresses like a database and compare lists. For my purposes, I have to upload new lists of constituents based on other databases that are used. When we have people who unsubscribe from other databases, they are still saved in my original MailChimp lists. Aside from checking one-by-one to see if my new list has changed from my saved MailChimp list, I have no way of knowing who to "weed out". If MailChimp had a way for me to upload a new list and run it against an existing list to find the differences, that would be the cherry on top!

Pros: For the most part, you can do anything you want with your emails in an easy way. Set up branded templates, customize each email, add different kinds of content SO EASILY...it's what you would expect from a wiziwig email creator. Reports are good, though there are more modern metrics missing, but the metrics included should provide enough insight for you to improve as you go.

Cons: Sometimes customer service gives up on your problems. I recently had a template defect, and no one could explain why, so they just said to start over with that template/email, because they couldn't fix the problem or explain it. That's a waste of my time and effort, not the point at all of templates. That wasn't the best experience. Other experiences have not been so bad.

Overall: Easy emails, easy reports, and easy list management. Isn't that convenience what everyone uses MailChimp for?

Pros: The delivery rate of emails is very high with mailchimp. A lot of the other services I've used don't get past a lot of spam filters but emails sent from mailchimp tend to. The tools they provide to create professional and easily readable emails really helped me when I was new to email marketing. One can just concentrate on the content without having to worry about technical things like code and scripting. The dashboard is very uncluttered with only the important things being seen meaning that there wasn't a steep learning curve when we were adopting this service. I have actually never had to read the documentation since everything I need for campaigns was within reach, easy to understand and it does what I need it to

Cons: While uncluttered, It would be nice to have a better looking dashboard, I spend a lot of time on the dashboard and it wouldn't hurt if I could customize it with different color schemes, animations and imagery

Overall: Email campaign creation and management is as painless at it will ever get High delivery rate and therefore conversion rate really helps in profitability of out business The price is just right for a person just wanting to test the service out or for a small but growing business

Pros: Mailchimp's drag and drop building format makes it incredibly easy to construct emails. They have tons of great tutorial videos to help teach you how to use it and create various layouts. I found there was very little you couldn't do with mailchimp. It is easy to create, save and duplicate templates and helps ensure you always meet necessary communications legislation. The analytics are basic but ensure you have the information you need and it is easy to manage client lists. Pricing is reasonable and they have a number of options to help users find the package that fits them. If you are not into building your own templates, Mailchimp offers a number of premade designs. It is very easy to look at and see what you are creating as you go.

Cons: It is not fully customizable making more complicated layouts difficult. The analytics well useful could offer more information. I had many clients who wanted to simply attach a document as you would in a traditional email platform and that is not what mailchimp is built for so it created a need for further, often lengthy discussions, to explain why mailchimp's method is better. I hated that you couldn't type directly in the email and had to click on the typing box at the side. This was not intuitive.

Overall: Easy to use. Great drag and drop format. Wide variety of pricing packages. Easy to learn.

Fantastic, life-saving product! I love it!

I was in search for a professional, easy-to-use platform to send out email marketing newsletters, product guides, etc. to a large customer base. I needed the software to be simple to use, didn't require much training for various team members to work with, and still had a professional touch to it. MailChimp was our answer. It has been a life-saving product for our business - and we love it! Not only are our customers seeing emails at regular intervals (the scheduled email feature is helpful here), we also feel confident about the emails we are sending to our customers - consistent and professional.

If you are an email marketer and have had experience using other email marketing platforms previous to using MailChimp, you may find MailChimp's unique "language" somewhat challenging to wrap your head around to begin with. It is designed to make it easier to use by using everyday language you or I would use in a conversation together. It can also be challenging if you are trying to dig up a very specific piece of data - MailChimp's defaults can be frustrating to work around. It is designed for a beginner marketer.

Pros: Many of our Graduate-level colleges use MailChimp very extensively. While I support Undergraduate admissions, I work closely with our Graduate Systems Specialist, so I've gotten to see and hear about MailChimp. From what I've seen and heard, it is a very reliable system that is intuitive and easy to use.

In fact, we recently obtained a new CRM tool that has communications and marketing tools built-in, but the Grad colleges continue to prefer MailChimp. That is very reflective of the quality and reliability of MailChimp.

Cons: I can't say I've heard very much negative about MailChimp. If anything, I have heard that our staff would like to have MailChimp integration with different types of software, such as SalesForce. Other than that, it's been pretty smooth sailing from my understanding.

Pros: Mail Chimp, while not the best platform available, certainly is a good one. User friendly, easily navigated, and offering a number of great tools, it's perfect for small to medium-sized businesses. We use it regularly for updates, sales, events, etc. Designing emails i s made simple and intuitive. You aren't offered as much creative flexibility as other platforms, but Mail Chimp makes up for it with the relative ease and speed of it offers for creating emails.

Cons: Moving contacts around could be a little simpler. Adding additional contacts is easy, but the process can get a bit convoluted when you start trying to spread them across different segments and groups.

Overall: Creating emails isn't my primary responsibility, so being able to put together an effective email with ease and speed is a must have. Mail Chimp gives me just that.

Pros: MailChimp makes professional-looking emails easy - with tons of bonus features. It's easy to use with a common-sense interface, and the templates are much nicer than those available for free from competitor products.

Mailchimp gives you a whole lot for free - and it's free if your list is under a 1000. Even at the free version, you get great analytics, list segments and so much more. A paid version gives you drip campaigns, deeper segmentation, more mailing options and a host of other features.

I handle marketing for several growing B2B businesses and fitness clubs, and I've rarely needed to pay for anything, nor have I had to use a designer. Mailchimp pretty much does it all.

Cons: I do wish it was mobile-responsive! The newest app is pretty easy to use, but when I've had to access Mailchimp via the mobile web, it's been almost distastrous. Also, I've had some issues with Mailchimp on Chrome for PC - but rarely on Firefox or on a Mac. It just doesn't render properly in Chrome, so I can't see the whole screen. (So really - just try another browser!)

Overall: Great-looking, easy-to-build emails for free - with a ton of great features included.

The Free version is really good, with reasonable limits for the price. And as you move into the pay plans, it offers excellent new features and continuing reasonable prices. I doubt I'll run into MailChimp's limits anytime in the near future.

Mailchimp has been my go-to email marketing choice for years now. It has grown in features as it has grown in popularity. It is priced fairly. It has a terrific email creating engine. List management is good, (not great). Campaign management is good, (not great.) Reporting is very very good. And they've even added Landing Pages that work as well as their email, (very good.)

I think their List Export is the weakest part of the product. It's not impossible, but it is non-obvious. And since exporting is not something I need to do often, that weakness is pretty insignificant.

Pros: I like that MailChimp allows for both drag and drop campaign building, and also direct coding. I use both depending on the campaign and how customized I need the content to be. Plus, with their suite of templates, making a professional email campaign has never been easier. As for lists and segmenting, MailChimp is always finding new ways to automate and automatically build segments for users, making it easier than ever to reach the exact customers you need to for each campaign.

Cons: When using templates, or building a new campaign with the drag and drop editor, it can be tricky to streamline the text formatting throughout. There are also some odd quirks with making links bold the bold link will only appear bold if you bold the text before you link it.

Pros: This software is very intuitive to use, you can watch or read a few tutorials and be proficient enough to get campaigns off the ground. You can easily export HTML's if a partner account is sending one out on behalf of your company. It's also easy to add videos, links, etc. without triggering spam filters so open rates aren't affected much.

Cons: Pricing structure. I am in a business where many people are on multiple lists, and they count as multiple users. Also, it charges you based on the peak of the month vs. average, so if we upload new subscriber names at once, it can skyrocket your rate. It also doesn't let you filter within certain distance of a zip code. For example, if you just want to target people in a certain city, you have to manually pull the data.

Pros: Mailchimp is a feature-rich email marketing platform that we have been using for over 5 years. We use it with Shopify and Justuno integrations to automatically add new subscribers to our email lists. We also use the Google Analytics, Facebook and Twitter integrations for simple publication of our latest arrivals, sales, news, etc. As a brick and mortar and e-commerce retail business we are able to create subsections of our mailing lists based on Geographical data in order to send out Local and National campaigns. The Shopify product integration, a relatively new feature, allows us to insert product listings directly into email campaigns. Opens and Clicks are simple to view and the general reporting features and analytics features are top-notch. Certain features cost money, for our needs we have been able to keep this as a free product.

Cons: Mailchimp is always improving and adding to the platform, sometimes there are certain UI issues with the WYSIWYG editor, but they have always been fixed or improved.

Overall: An excellent email marketing solution for any business or organization.

Cons: Literally none. I couldn't be happier.

Overall: I've used several email newsletter service in my profession, and it is my opinion that not a single one can even come close to the ease of use, functionality, and quality that MailChimp provides. We send out literally thousands of targeted email campaigns per year, and MailChimp makes the process easy and provides the tools necessary to make sleek, professional quality marketing and advertising campaigns. That alone makes their service worthwhile, but on top of that, they also provide data analytics tools to help streamline and optimize your delivery methods and times and track the all important data that helps you to improve your product and better target your user base. Their services, product, and customer support are all world class, and I am supremely happy with every aspect of their company.

Pros: The features are robust. The ability to save my templates is a total win. In addition, it allows me to ad media and videos. It is so easy even a beginner can reap the benefits. The free version is a great way to learn and ramp up to more features. The best part is that the delivery rate is excellent with Mail Chimp. They also have an app that makes creating a newsletter or promo email on the go a breeze. You can use for building your list and to promote you E-Commerce sites. Integrates with Twitter, Facebook and Google Analytics.

Cons: I have tried many email products and mail chimp still rocks the house. Some of the more complex features are only available for paid customers. Learning how to create a good-looking pop-up form takes a bit of practice. Best to save a master template so you don't overwrite your template during the editing stage. LIke everything practice makes perfect and the pros outweigh the cons by a landslide. One caveat, if reusing your web photos in your emails make sure to resize them. Always use the test feature to make sure formatting looks good on mobile too.

Pros: Very easy to use! As simple as drag and drop for adding components to your email. I also love how MailChimp keeps all of my mailing lists so organized. I use a lot of logos and graphics and they are all stored in my MailChimp account, rather than have to search my computer each time. That saves time!

Cons: Wish there were more fonts and creative editing tools. For example, it would be nice if there were multiple buttons to choose from. I am also always having to look up an RGB to Hex color converter, so it would be nice if that was built into MailChimp. I have large lists and send emails in batches but it will not let you send in more than 26 batches.

Overall: MailChimp is a much easier way to send emails to a mailing list and track the effectiveness of your email campaigns.

Pros: Mailchimp is the easiest email campaign software I've used. It is easy to design emails and has a lot of great preloaded designs as well. Managing contacts and segmenting audiences is also easy to do. This is the software I recommend to my clients that need an affordable and simple platform to work off of -- you really don't even need experience in creating emails to figure out how to use Mailchimp. It is a bargain. The reporting features are helpful as well.

Cons: I wish comparative reporting was available for lower tier software users. A lot of the preloaded designs have a similar look and feel, so depending on your industry/purpose, you might not be able to use any of them. There isn't a lot of diversity in design elements.

Pros: Our favorite thing about Mailchimp is the ability to manage and see data from who you are marketing too and what they do with what you are marketing to them, how the respond, and a bunch of other data tools that are very valuable. I also love the ability to see an archive of campaigns, and replicated them to fit your brand.

Cons: There are alot of flaws in my opinion. First is the lack of ability to easily import contacts from a mailing list by batches, you have to do them by hand or excel sheets which is messy. The other glaring issue is the inability to send a campaign if there are more contacts in your lists then your subscription plan allows, even if your not sending emails to everyone. I would love the ability to import all my marking contacts but have the ability to choose who i send to and still stay within my emailing limit. its just a pain in the butt right now and which is why we are looking for other methods of email marketing. im sure if we wanted to upgrade our subscription it would be easier but thats where my third least favorite thing comes in. Budget. it seems to go from affordable startup to large scale companies and seems to skip over small businesses like mine where we might only have this type of service, which that would be on top of all the other costs of marketing overhead, designers, social media, ect. It all adds up and its just not something most businesses can afford.

Pros: Mailchimp has been around for a while and thus has tons of third party integration to keep it working. Additionally, it has an incredibly accessible pricing scheme for small businesses (which is completely free until they have grown enough), and it's easy to design your emails however you feel. Additionally, you have a wealth of statistics and reports at your disposal to utilize as you see fit.

Cons: While the freemium plan works out well for a while, the pricing gets relatively steep once you need to start upping your payment plan. Additionally, in terms of strictly automating emails, Mailchimp is lacking in depth features (however it can respond to whatever basic automation you have in place and does so effectively).

Overall: I have been using Mailchimp for almost 3 years now. In 2014, as a one-woman team, this software was intuitive, easy to navigate, and simple to explain to others. The team grew, and we signed on with HubSpot, which includes email. So, we stopped using Mailchimp as much as we used to, reserving the service solely for client outreach, not marketing. Then we needed transactional emails and signed up with Mandrill, which used Mailchimp templates. Mandrill rolled up into Mailchimp, which is awesome!!! We still use Mailchimp for client communications every single day. It's affordable, and you can set it and forget it. I highly recommend Mailchimp for anyone looking for an email software, but too small for a CMS like HubSpot. Or for anyone looking for an affordable way to send transactional emails.

Take time to build your templates. It's a time saver in the long-run.

We have been using MailChimp for over 2 years now. It is hard to imagine not having this platform to send out our bulk emails to our clients. We run monthly Webinars, Live Sessions and updates to subscribers of our products. Pre MailChimp we used to do mail merges and this was fine until the client base grew beyond 1000 users. Now we run around 6 campaigns a month to lists specific to our clients and the services they use. Honestly the templates are great, the ability to customize and then save as a personal template is fantastic for some of our white labelled products as this enables us to make small changes and send it out to another entirely different client section.

Crazy easy to use. Reports are update live and very detailed. Ability for them to track returned mails and not clog our inbox. Lists are very easy to maintain. Templates truly are incredible and ridiculously easy to manipulate with the in browser editor. The mobile app for tracking campaigns is great as you always have the information when its needed.

I cannot think of any real cons if you use it correctly for your own client base and do not try spam mass groups of pre purchased ail lists.

Its not worth trying anything else, it is that good.

Pros: I've been using MailChimp since it was first introduced, and I've always been a fan, but I'm super impressed with their continued evolution. Their updates and introduction of new features are always well thought out, executed and deployed. And their knowledge base and mechanisms for support are consistent, cohesive, and easy to access and understand. The broad and varied number of programs they integrate with also makes it an especially good recommendation for small-to-medium sized businesses for whom marketing automation can seem like a terrifying task.

Cons: Ummm... data fields are capped at 30? Yeah, I got nothing. Usually, if I find I run into a problem, it's totally user error.

Adding an element of a tool like Respondable to analyze the likelihood of someone taking action would take things to the next level. More templated emails to really plug content into, while keeping the design integrity would help smaller marketers get that sexy email look that small brands are also striving for.

Account setup and on-boarding is relatively quick and doesn't require a lot of advanced tech knowledge. Drag drop email builder is a dream for getting newsletters together quickly. It advises you when your images are too large and will likely blow up an inbox and helps with optimizing. Database management, grouping and segmenting contacts is easy. Free version is pretty full-featured for the basic marketer. Zapier and CRM integrations make growing your audience a breeze. Reporting is clear and concise--doesn't get too deep into the weeds.

Image editor is slow and breaks on occasion. Creating the super-cool, slick emails still requires someone to code in my opinion. Reporting doesn't offer a lot of insights on how to improve or leverage your best-performing content for growth.

Pros: Free tier is very generous and will suit startups until considerable growth is achieved and may suit some businesses forever.

Great metrics gathering for user analysis and future campaign targeting.

Very mature platform so that you can usually count on your choice of product integrating with Mailchimp before any other mail platform.

Great ecosystem and tutorials.

Great integrations via API and Zapier etc

Cons: The online mail and form designer is looking very dated and could do with an update.

Sometimes the UI of Mailchimp is clunky to use and could do with redesigning for modern devices. A more contemporary single page app approach would work well for this software.

Can become expensive once the free tier is exceeded and you use more advanced features but in reality you have scaled up as a user by that point and cost should be less relevant.

Overall: Great free entry point to advanced email marketing and subscriber services with a lot of fine grained control for a generous entry fee. Some excellent advanced features accessible on the higher tiers.

We came from using Exact Target which was so very complicated, that switching to MailChimp was a dream. Our creative department can create the templates without requiring custom code from our technical team. Also, we have found they are a bit more strict on the list quality you are contacting. We've had multiple clients give us a bad list where the majority of the emails bounce because they have never updated the list. This is not only a waste of our time, but lowers ours (and our client's) credibility as the sender. This provides us an opportunity to discuss alternate options for maintaining and managing leads with our clients.

It could be a bit more robust on the reporting front, but really overall we don't have any major complaints.

It is easy to implement and easy to switch over from other platforms. As I mentioned before we came over from Exact Target where all our templates were coded. Since MailChimp also allows for custom code, we were able to copy and paste our old templates in the tweak accordingly so that we didn't lose anything in the transition. It was one of the main reasons we decided to switch over so quickly.

Pros: It has highly customizable email templates, you can import your own templates or just customize your existing templates, it has all the standard features available from programming to the creation of subscription forms and the hosting of images is free and unlimited. In addition your Dashboard is big, simple, full of useful tips and a simple workflow. MailChimp devotes enormous resources to fight against spam. They have some of the most restrictive shipping policies. When you do an email, they give you repeated suggestions to send a better email. Good platform!

Overall: Their ready templates are very basic for subscription forms, however, the forms can be hosted or integrated into the website. Although you can import as many contacts as you wish, if you receive a lot of subscriptions or spam claims after sending a campaign, your account can be suspended and / or canceled and automatic responses will only be sent to those who subscribed through the web form.

Pros: They offer the free version that is simple enough to collect e-mail addresses through your website and deliver content like lead magnets.

I also like the e-mail templates - they make the content creation easy.

Cons: I have had a little trouble with customizing the embedded forms for my website, but definitely not a deal breaker. I can adjust my website to accommodate the forms.

Overall: I have used Mail Chimp for a couple different businesses and appreciate the simplicity of programming. My favorite part is that I can collect e-mail addresses through my website and create automated e-mails to deliver content at any time of day or night - hands free.

While I am sure that more powerful solutions exist that integrate customer management with mailing lists, mail chimp's free version is a great place to start for startups or bootstrapping businesses or blogs (if you are ok with the mail chimp logo being in your e-mail).

Overall, I've been very pleased with the functionality mail chimp for managing my mail lists and drip e-mail chains. I would definitely recommend the free version for basic list management/subscription management and the paid version for more powerful features (like the drip e-mails).
