Piano Programme

Mon. July 27th to Sat. August 8th
(2 or 3 weeks, 9.00am to 4.30pm, followed by student concert):
Ages 9 to Adult, Intermediate and Senior.

Piano students who wish to attend the first of the John Perry master classes should register on Mon. August 3rd. All others may register on Tues. August 4th.

Course Content

  • 'Technique is fun'.
  • Private & Class Lessons
  • Performance of Solo & Duet Repertoire.

Depending on enrolment, piano programme will be extended for a third week, Mon. 10th August to Sun. 16th. August.

John Perry

Recital and master classes

Due to international solo commitments, Mr. Perry will be at SMS during the latter part of the first week of piano classes. His SMS Recital and class times will be forwarded to all piano students as soon as they are available. SMS piano faculty will hold master classes during the first days of the piano programme.

Piano

Pianist John Perry, Professor of Music at the University of Southern California Thornton School and on the faculty of the prestigious Colburn School for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, is internationally renowned as artist performer and teacher. Mr. Perry has won numerous awards including the highest prizes in both the Busoni and Viotti international piano competitions. He enjoys an outstanding reputation as a soloist, collaborator with many of the world's finest instrumentalists, recording artist and teacher. He presents master classes throughout the world and is sought after as a jury member at many of the most prestigious international piano competitions. His students have been prize winners in many of the major piano competitions, including the Naumburg National Chopin competition, the Rubinstein and the Beethoven Foundation.
